Looks Like Its Done! But It's Not!!!

From the looks of the outside of the house one might think that we are almost done. Looks can be deceiving. The inside is no further along then we were three weeks ago. That is fine by me. I now have some things that I have to do before the drywall is put up. I need to hang some insulation in parts of the garage and run some extra Cable and speaker wire. It is suppose to warm up a bit this weekend so I think I will get working.

One more thing I would like to mention. We were given an offer on the Walnut St. house and our counter offer was accepted. So that is one less thing we need to worry about as we head into the completion of the Dreamhouse.

*To all of the blog readers that live in the area, if we close on Walnut St. before we move into the Dreamhouse we might need to borrow some floor space!!!*

Down Time

After a couple of days (14) work has resumed on the Dreamhouse. There was scheduling issues with the electric, heating and plumbing and they could not get to the site. Monday was the first sign of movement and by the end of the day half the house was sided. So things seem to be back on track.

We Got A Roof

As I woke this morning to a fresh coating of snow I thought for sure no work would be done today, but KHOV proved me wrong. The roofers were there bright and early laying shingles. So at the end of the day the the roof is complete. The next step is called the Crayon. This is where we walk the house and lay out the outlets, phones and cable jacks. Check back soon for more information.

Guilty Conscience

After much thought about my January 10th post on global warming, I have decided to become more eco-friendly. Mr. Gore told me personally, through the magic of motion pictures, if we all do our parts we could save the Earth for future generations. That being said, I have added some important links to stop or reduce carbon emissions. A little GREEN living could go a long way.

A lot of new pictures of the inside.

Framing Complete

The framing is complete. The only thing left to do is finish up the windows and the front door. It only took a couple of weeks to go from an empty lot to resembling a house. Check out the Web photo album for pictures from the inside.

Under Roof!!!

Under roof seems to be a common term in the home building business. From what I have gathered it is most important when building in inclement weather. You know like the middle of January. However due to greater carbon emmissions we have had an unseasonably warm winter so far (Gore, An Inconvienient Truth, 2006). I personally think it's great, keep pumping out the Carbon Dioxide baby. We will make the nessesary changes after we move in. Check back tomorrow I heard they are putting the windows and doors in.

Them's Guy is Fast

What a crew!!! A good 8 hours of work and the 1st floor is complete. The 2nd floor is started and they said that they will have it under roof tomorrow. I hope the weather holds off for them. Check back soon for more info.

I also made some changes to the Blog. I added a link to Sam and Lindsay's Wedding Blog and I added a slide show of all the photos that we have. Cool Stuff.

Record Setting Pace

Well I just met with the Construction Supervisor and it looks like the house will be complete in April if everything goes at this pace. The building inspector gave the O.K. on the foundation. They will be back filling this afternoon and the lumber should arrive next week sometime. If the weather cooperates then there is a chance that the framing could be done by next weekend.

The pressure is really on to sell the old house now. I will be working on that all weekend.
